Generating Fake Cells

Generating Fake Cells is an exploration on the intersection of life and artificial intelligence. 301 images from Google under the key word “fluorescence microscopy cell” were fed into the GAN neural network (Generative Adversarial Network) in Runway ML. A model was trained out of it.

The obtained model was able to generate “fake cells” images - pictures that look like real cells while they are not. This was inspired by Philip Wang’s project ThisPersonDoesNotExist as an experiment on the question “can AI can generate life?”
